Adult – Bible Study
The Bible Study will continue its study in the Hauschildt Room. The class uses as a basis for discussion the lectinary readings used most Sundays in the Worship Service that day. Commentary on the text, by Jay Wilcoxen (associated with Protestants for the Common Good), is circulated each week via email. The scriptures are read in class and discussed with an emphasis on how the readings for the day, from the Hebrew Scriptures, Psalms, Epistle, and Gospel, when read together, deepen our understanding of the texts. All are welcome
Leaders: Cal Audrain and Charles Custer; Location: Hauschild Room
The Contemporary Issues class will meet in the Hashimoto Library. The class focuses on our faith and biblical understanding as we discuss current events. This fall we will use as a basis for our discussion, The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak (the fall Chicago reads selection), as well as current events. It is a participatory class and everyone is invited to bring current topics for discussion. All are welcome who want to use the Bible as a resource as we look at issues facing us in the world today.
