Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction recognizes that God is present in every moment. From birth to death, these moments are where we experience life. Whether we feel in control of the process or not, we are constructing the sacred story of our own lives in the way we relate to our experiences. When we reflect on our experiences, our awareness of ourselves, of others, of the natural world and of God grows. We become more aware and freer to choose how we respond. We become more creative in our choices. Spiritual direction will help you listen for the deep desires of your heart and for God’s invitation to you.
You might come to meet with a spiritual companion for a variety of reasons, including:
- to share struggles, losses or disappointments
- to find encouragement and affirmation
- to discern and make difficult choices
- to identify and trust your own experiences of God
- to integrate spirituality into your daily life
- to grow in your relationship with God, yourself, others and creation.
You and your spiritual companion will journey together as you explore and grow. You will agree on a convenient timeĀ for meeting, usually once a month. This will be an hour of confidential, one-on-one reflection and exploration. You will also agree on a fee. There is no fee for members of the church. Whatever is shared between you is held in confidence.
