Volunteer Opportunities

We are committed to building up the Hyde Park neighborhood and surrounding south side of Chicago. This is the focus of our work for the common good.

Breakfast for the Hungry

We feed people breakfast on the last Saturday of every month. If you would like to help, preparation begins at 8:00 a.m. Come to the church door on Blackstone. We serve from 9 to 10. Come at 10 to help clean up. We are usually done by 11.

Night Ministry

On the third Thursday of the month we meet at 7:30 to prepare sack dinners. Come to the Blackstone door of the church to help Four people go to Pilsen to deliver and distribute the food. Donations of home made cookies are welcome.

Open Kitchen

We prepare the noon meal for the Open kitchen on the Sunday preceding the fourth Monday of the month. We cook in the church kitchen after worship and then deliver the meal to the Kenwood United Church of Christ.

Food Pantry

The Hyde Park Kenwood Intefaith Council cooperates to provide a community food pantry. We are responsible for staffing the pantry in the month of August. The pantry is open Saturdays from 10 to 1. If you can help with this please leave a message with the church office.
