Volunteer Opportunities
We are committed to building up the Hyde Park neighborhood and surrounding south side of Chicago. This is the focus of our work for the common good.
Breakfast for the Hungry
We feed people breakfast on the last Saturday of every month. If you would like to help, preparation begins at 8:00 a.m. Come to the church door on Blackstone. We serve from 9 to 10. Or come at 10 to help clean up. We are usually done by 11.
Night Ministry
On the third Thursday of the month we meet at 7:00 to prepare sack dinners. Come to the Blackstone door of the church to help. About four people go to Pilsen to deliver and distribute the food. Donations of home made cookies are welcome.
Food Pantry
The Hyde Park Kenwood Interfaith Council cooperates to provide a community food pantry. The United Church helps staff the pantry in the month of August. Thank you to everyone who helped out this year. If you would like to help with the pantry during the rest of the year please contact the pantry at the Hyde Park Union Church to make arrangements.
Open Kitchen
The Hyde Park and Kenwood Interfaith Council also cooperates to provide a daily meal at the Kenwood United Church of Christ. Our church provides the meal on the fourth Monday of the month. To help with this daily meal contact the Kenwood United Church of Christ.
